Domain statuses

The status of your domain will indicate whether it is working properly or if there are potential configuration issues:
  • A green shield over the domain icon next to a domain means it is registered and connected with a working SSL certificate in place
  • An orange shield over the domain icon next to a domain means it is registered and connected, but does not yet have a functioning SSL certificate.
  • Pending resolution means that Bolt is trying to resolve your domain to your hosting. No action is needed. This usually takes a few minutes to resolve, but in some circumstances may take up to 24 hours.
  • SSL certificates in progress means that Bolt is in the process of assigning an SSL certificate. This also typically completes within a few minutes. No action is needed.
  • Resolve DNS issues means the domain settings are not correct. This usually happens when the dashboard where you registered the domain needs to be updated with your Bolt DNS details. Click Resolve DNS issues to view and copy the values you need to add.
  • SSL certificate failed means Bolt has encountered an error that cannot automatically be resolved with your SSL certificate. Contact support for help in this situation. Screenshot of Domains window showing Pending SSL status

Manually request an SSL certificate

In some cases, one of your domains might not have an SSL certificate yet. When this happens, you can manually request a new one. The most common reasons include: • A certificate was never issued
• The original certificate expired
• Some domains were not included when the first certificate was created
If you notice that a domain is missing its certificate, check whether you can request one. Look for the orange shield icon next to the domain. You should also see a button labeled Ensure SSL. Use that button to start the request. Follow the steps below to complete the process.

Temporary issues after connecting a domain

With modern content delivery networks and caching systems, a new domain may take time to operate smoothly after connecting. In the first 24–48 hours, there’s a small chance you will see outdated content, missing assets, or other minor glitches as networks update. These issues are not specific to Bolt or your site. It is simply how content distribution works across the internet, and these issues usually resolve on their own.
